Correctly operates CT equipment and accessories to achieve optimal patient throughput and image quality. Correctly initiates scans and films results in accordance with exam protocol as documented in scan protocol book and as established by the medical director.

Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient&apos;s ability and comfort. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patient during procedure. Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner during interventional CT procedures. Efficiently prepares sterile field selecting appropriate medical supplies based on the procedure using aseptic surgical techniques.

In agreement with state statutes and where institutional policy permits, identifies, prepares and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner in accordance with department protocol. Is competent to perform venipuncture and checks BUN and CREATININE on ER, inpatients and applicable outpatients in accordance with department policies prior to iodinated contrast injections.

Maintains archival storage of data as appropriate. Maintains log book. Ensures X-ray jacket documents CT procedure, and creates appropriate CT insert jacket. Loads film and assist with maintaining laser imager.

Assumes responsibility for CT area and reports equipment malfunctions. Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies. Cleans work/ patient area following every exam to ensure clean aseptic patient environment.

Demonstrates competency and trouble shooting with images on call. Follows department protocols for notifying physician and transmission of images.

Assists with data collection for trending or reporting purposes: assists in other areas of the imaging department requested.

Maintains all licenses including ARRT, MRT and CPR in current status. Provides Director of Radiology a complete listing of continuing education related to licensure requirements. Completes all hospital annual requirements in a timely manner; attends and or reads departmental meeting minutes in a timely fashion. All above activities properly documented in the employee log book.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.</description>

Offers encouragement and reassurance to patient during procedure.

Assists radiologist with invasive procedures, such as needle localization&apos;s cyst aspirations, biopsies and galactograms. Verifies informed consent. Insures room and supplies are ready. Establishes and ensures aseptic technique as necessary. Provides patient education. Understands methods and is capable of assisting with breast inspection or palpation. Encourages and instructs patients on monthly self breast exams. Provides patient teaching regarding osteoporosis during BMD study. Prepares patient for procedure providing instructions/education to obtain desired results. Gains cooperation of and minimizes anxiety of patient.

Assists in maintaining medical and departmental records respecting confidentiality and departmental protocol.

?         Interpret referrals and orders, check for appropriateness, indications and contraindications.
?         Perform initial evaluations, re-evaluations, daily treatments within the professional scope of practice commensurate with education and training.
?         Provide patient and family education relevant to their needs, equipment recommendations and use.
?         Complete timely documentation including initial evaluations, weekly progress and conference notes, daily treatment notes, discharge summaries, pt/family education, discharge/transfer/referral forms and other required documentation.
?         Complete timely and accurate FIM scoring.
?         Collaborate with the patient, family, and all other members of the rehabilitation team.
?         Delegate and instruct support staff including PTA&apos;s and aides regarding the services they may perform.
?         Promote patient rights, confidentiality, privacy, and dignity.
?         Provide education and training to other staff members, informally or formally to meet the needs of patients, families, and staff.
?         Participate in and support Performance Improvement activities.
?         Attend team and facility meetings.
